2015/04 Help us with the final push on the "Maternity Leave Directive"#Delivernow

MMM has asked its member associations and other NGOs in countries that are opposing the start of the negotiations to send a letter to their Ministers responsible for this directive asking them to reconsider their position and engage in negotiations. These countries are Germany, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia, Latvia, Denmark, Cyprus and Slovenia. In addition, to countries that are not opposing, MMM has also sent a letter asking for their support to convince opposing countries.
We have also sent a letter to the Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, together with other social EU organizations asking him to save the maternity leave directive.
In addition, MMM has joined forces with the European Women’s Lobby and signed this petition and we are encouraging others to sign it via social media (Facebook and Twitter).
How can you help us?
1. By signing the petition and spreading it to as many of your friends and family as you can, to show EU decision makers, that mothers rights matter and deserve action
2. By sending a letter to Ministers in countries responsible for the directive who are opposing negotiations or to ask neutral/ supportive countries their support to convince opposing countries. You can contact us if you would require help in drafting such a letter
3. Spread awareness of this issue on social media using #DeliverNow and #theFinalPush
4. Tweet about it to your Ministers, elected officials and anybody of influence, especially in the 10 countries mentioned above.
Together we can work to deliver European mothers the maternity rights they deserve!
